Eintsein's Dirty Thirty

1.  “I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university.”

2.  “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

3.  “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

4.  “If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself.”

5.  “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”

6.  “The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious - the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and true science.”

7.  “Never memorize something that you can look up.”

8.  “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.”

9.  “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

 10.  “From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that we are here for the sake of each other - above all for those upon whose smile and well-being our own happiness depends, and also for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day I realize how much my own outer and inner life is built upon the labors of my fellow men, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.”

11.  “Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.”

12.  “Laws alone can not secure freedom of expression; in order that every man present his views without penalty there must be spirit of tolerance in the entire population.”

13.  “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”

14.“Generations to come will find it difficult to believe that a man such as Gandhi ever walked the face of this earth”

15.“I came to America because of the great, great freedom which I heard existed in this country. I made a mistake in selecting America as a land of freedom, a mistake I cannot repair in the balance of my lifetime.”

16.“If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?”

17.“We all know that light travels faster than sound. That's why certain people appear bright until you hear them speak.”

18.“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

19.“Somebody who only reads newspapers and at best books of contemporary authors looks to me like an extremely near-sighted person who scorns eyeglasses. He is completely dependent on the prejudices and fashions of his times, since he never gets to see or hear anything else.”

20.“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction.”

21.“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

22.“To dwell on the things that depress or anger us does not help in overcoming them. One must knock them down alone.”

23.“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”

24.“A society's competitive advantage will come not from how well its schools teach the multiplication and periodic tables, but from how well they stimulate imagination and creativity.

25.“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity”

26.“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning.”

27.“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.”

28.“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”

29.“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”

30.“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”
