Today's randomness

I hope our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us, that the less we use our power the greater it will be. ~Thomas Jefferson

Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life
~John Muir

Reading isn't necessary....?!?!

Today, a soon-to-graduate 19 yr old male told me...."I don't need to know how to read good...it's not necessary.  You can just remember what things look like to get through life."  Then he told me that we need to have more Americans in other countries to teach them how to be more like us.  WHAT?!?!  I nearly fell off my rocker!  Is this what we will be leaving our country to?  Why has common sense been replaced by common ignorance?  UGH!

It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have education without common sense.~ Robert G. Ingersoll

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot his whole life, which created an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little which made him frail, and with his odd diet, he suffered from very bad breath. This made him.... what?
